What is EXIF data?
EXIF is metadata that cameras and phones store inside a photo: the camera and lens, exposure settings, the date and time, and often the GPS coordinates of where it was taken. XMP and IPTC are similar blocks that editing apps add, such as the author, copyright, and edit history.
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Drop the photo on this page and click Remove all metadata, then download the clean copy. The GPS coordinates, camera details, dates, and any author or copyright fields are removed.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
Not for JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The file is rewritten without its metadata blocks while the image data is copied unchanged, so quality stays exactly the same. HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF photos are saved as a new high-quality JPEG instead.
Will my photo still be rotated correctly?
Yes. Phone photos often store their rotation as a metadata tag. For JPEGs the tool keeps that one tag and removes everything else, so the photo is not turned sideways.
Is my photo uploaded?
